When Dariusz Żuk, the Entrepreneurial Poland, along with his school mates – Jacek Aleksandrowicz and Mariusz Turski – invented the first business incubator, he must have not predicted that 10 years later this would be the network present all over Poland on one  of the largest ecosystems of this type in the world.

One may ask why? Is it worth to make a mountain out of a molehill? Let’s take a look at world’s modern trends of the development of economies in developed countries and those rapidly developing. Internet businesses develop at the speed of light, also in Europe. In Poland, numerous people try to develop own apps and solutions which are tested to enter the global market. The Internet makes a business launched in Katowice, Lublin, Szczecin or Warsaw or any other place in Poland have a chance to achieve a global success.
Just Business Link incubators include hundreds of companies. Of course, not every young company is a startup and not every startup is to succeed globally. However, having the possibilities offered by the Internet, it is worth to think about a development of globally scaled businesses. It is worth to think about a global success here and now.
Startups are not only a way of business. They are a lifestyle, a way of thinking, a specificity of realisation of own passions and a will to enter the global market. This became clear to me recently after speaking with Wojtek Borczyk, the founder of Incuvo. At the beginning of February 2015, Incuvo team from Katowice, was awarded with Global Champion World Summit Award – Mobile Content for their game called Createrria. This is the first award for Poland for the world’s best smartphone app. „World Summit Award is an initiative of the United Nations’ World Summit on the Information Society and is supported by UNESCO, UNIDO and UNGAID” – as published at www.komputerswiat. pl on the 10th February, 2015.
Incuvo’s seat is in Katowice but their business is global. Wojtek, during a meeting with young entrepreneurs with the scope of the inauguration of the program called Young Entrepreneur
in Modern City at the seat of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Katowice on Friday, the 20th February 2015, mentioned that it is worth do business in what we are good at. He said that one should not think of great money at first and it will come later „on its own”.
One may ask if it’s true. Don’t you have to work hard to earn money? The answer is simple and brutal: yes, you have to work hard. However, looking at the words of Wojtek from Incuvo that it’s worth to launch a company, one can think that it is not necessary to search for a niche and to discover new markets. Briefly, launching a startup is like denying the frustration resulting from the fact that we don’t know the way to achieve the success. It is a kind of an approach to the business being strict to oneself – very ecological…
Thus, are startups a way for young Poles and Europeans? For many yes. It is essential that people who want to develop own startups had a good ecosystem, favoring their growth. An ecosystem is formed by various elements and institutions such as legal and tax environment, incubators, accelerators, investors, mentors, corporations, self-governments, governmental authorities, other startups and young companies (not only those oriented on IT and modern technologies). It must be mentioned that the innovation can be a trait also of so called traditional companies/branches.
My dream is that Poland could become a hub  for startup ideas for Central East Europe. There are  many people in Poland  who know that Polish startups  positively influence the level  of innovation in Poland and can be a good  source of innovative ideas for Polish economy.  It would be ideal if we were an alternative  for this part of Europe or  at least a stop on the way to enter  British or American markets.
