For some time, we are observing an increase of the average length of life. On one hand, developed medicine and modern technologies allow us to live and function relatively comfortably. On the other, diseases of affluence, modified food, stress and fast pace of living seem to shorten our lives.

However, it is true that our society is ageing and the most standard family model is 2+1. Due to that, there will be more and older people what may result in a rapid growth of people suffering from degenerative lesions of the nervous system, mainly of a demential character. Most of such people will be those who are lonely. This may be the image of the older age. A good example is Japan, the country of the greatest number of people aged over 100, while Europe is the most rapidly ageing continent. This arouses the question who will take care of us and help when we are old? Where will we be able to find help when our kids will live and work in another country and grandchildren in another continent? Are there already such technologies which can help us?
Good news is that there already appear companies which provide the feeling of safety to people who are ill, old or disabled. They offer an access to basic care in emergency situations by a constant monitoring. They provide remote
medical consultations, examinations which can be done at home, diagnostic stations, medical diagnoses, medical information as well as caring and psychological services.
These can be realised by phone, the Internet or any other form of remote communication. Apart from such companies, there are also applications which can e.g. inform about a drop of the blood sugar and the necessity of an injection. There are apps that can monitor our heart work and inform us and our doctor in case of some negative actions. A high blood pressure?
Not a problem for modern technologies. The problem is that there are not many services of such type in Poland or they are too expensive for most of people. I, personally, do not care about this as I now that it is going to be cheaper, more popular and available for everyone… as it always happens this way.
