The stars of Polish boxing dignified the fist-ever boxing gala….at a castle. In Szydłowiec, Alicja’s life was also fought for and fundraising was organised.

In the boxing ring, we could see the public’s favourites– Michał Żeromiński and Adam Balski, who won by knockout with their rivals. Among the spectators, we could admire such stars as: a candidate for the World Champion title, Mariusz “Viking” Wach; former European champions – Rafał Jackiewicz and Mateusz Masternak; and also Ewa Brodnicka – holder of the title of a continental champion, one of the leaders of the Tymex Boxing Promotion group.

The originator of the gala in this amazing scenery was an entrepreneur and boxing promoter – Mariusz Grabowski, the chief of Tymex. He comes from Pionki, near Radom; therefore. southern Mazovia is particularly close to his heart. He did not have to seek the ideal location for boxing at the castle yard long because Artur Ludew, the mayor of Szydłowiec, who has been connected with the local football club “Szydłowianka” for years, helped him to implement the plan with enthusiasm.

During the fight of the evening, in the welterweight division, Michał Żeromiński, whose father and uncle were also great boxers, drew after a tough and balanced battle with a Russian, Roman Seliverstov, who had both a better sports experience and also better rivals in the ring. Discovered by Mariusz Grabowski, Adam Balski, who hung up his boxing gloves for several years and worked physically in Ireland and France, did not fail. In the last six months, he has won five fights, four of which he finished before time. He was noticed by the coaches of the Polish representation and he has been invited as the main sparring partner for Igor Jakubowski who is training for the Olympic Games.

– In terms of organisation and sport, the gala was a great success. I am glad that we could help Alicja by raising 23.5 thousand zlotys. The charity auction was held by Ewa Brodnicka, who is facing the title defence this year. I hope that the Castle in Szydłowiec will regularly host the representatives of combat sports. Among the great boxers, there was also a titled kickboxer with us, Tomasz Sarara – said Mariusz Grabowski.

The gala was transmitted live by a web portal bokser.org, which specialises in professional boxing, and the gala news was published in foreign and national media. Among the spectators, there was also Szymon Wydra – a vocalist, guitarist, composer and poet, the founder and leader of the band Carpe Diem.

Boxing left the sports halls a long time ago. Rings at castle yards, at the amphitheatre in Międzyzdroje or the salt mine in Wieliczka surprise us no more. The chief of Tymex adds quietly that he has another idea for an even more incredible location for boxing fights.
